August 30th is National Beach Day, a wonderful daily holiday celebrating the beauty and importance of beaches across the nation. It’s a day to enjoy the sun, sand, and sea while also reminding ourselves of the vital role beaches play in our environment. National Beach Day encourages us to cherish these coastal treasures and take part in keeping them clean and protected for generations to come.

• The longest beach is in Brazil and is 150 miles long.
• Victorian doctors used to prescribe a trip to the beach rather than medication.
• Oceans cover more than 71% of the earths surface.
• One in three of the people that go to the beach can't swim.
• It takes thousands of years to form a beach from eroded rocks and biological material.

2. Go to a beach either a lake or ocean beach is great.
3. Collect shells on the beach.
