Let's Celebrate Curmudgeons Day!
Celebrated Every January 29th
January 29th is Curmudgeon Day, a quirky daily holiday dedicated to celebrating those cantankerous, curmudgeonly personalities we often associate with a certain grumpy charm—mostly older men with a sharp tongue. This day commemorates the birthday of W.C. Fields, a comedian and actor famous for his own curmudgeonly demeanor. It’s a fun occasion to embrace the gruff yet endearing sides of these memorable characters.
A Few Curmudgeon Facts...
- A Curmudgeon is a gruff, cranky, and stubborn person who is usually an old man.
- Scrooge starts out as a Curmudgeon.
- Oscar the Grouch has been called a Curmudgeon.
- The word Curmudgeon was said to first be used in the 1500s.
How to Celebrate Curmudgeon Day...
1-Embrace your inner Curmudgeon and be grumpy.
2-Don't smile all day. (I don't want to do that:-).
3-Watch a movie or TV show with a Curmudgeon main character. (A Christmas Carol, A Man Called Ove, House. All the characters get over this negative attitude except for the Dr. on House...I never liked him).
4-Read a book about Curmudgeons.
How will I celebrate Curmudgeon Day? I bought a book about Curmudgeons. I will look through it to learn more. I have wanted to watch A Man Called Ove because I read the book and loved it. So, I will watch the movie.
Happy Curmudgeon Day!
