• The Second Continetenetal Congress passed a resulation on June 14, 1777 accepting the design of the American Flag.
• The flag adopted in 1777 had 13 red and white stripes on a blue background.
• Bernard Cigrand led a celebration for the flag in 1885 but the first official celebration was in 1916.
• President Wilson claimed June 14 as Flag Day.
• Flag Day represents liberty, freedom, and democracy.
