- He hit his first home run in Fayetteville, NC, in 1914.
- He was the highest-paid player in 1930, making $80.000 a year.
- Ruth was sent to a Catholic Boys Reformatory School, where he was trained to be a shirt maker. The monks at the school saw that he was gifted as a baseball player and encouraged him to play.
- His nicknames included Bambino, The Home Run King, and Sultan of Swat.
- Babe Ruth hit 714 home runs.
- He loved peanuts and Cracker Jacks.
