Finding Joy in Daily Holidays-Today, January 7th is Harlem Globetrotter's Day!

Let's Celebrate Harlem Globetrotter's Day!

Celebrated Annually Every January 7th

I remember, as a kid watching the Harlem Globetrotters on television.  I thought they were amazing.  But just who are the Harlem Globetrotters?

"The Harlem Globetrotters are an American exhibition basketball team.
They combine athleticism, theater, and comedy in their style of play."
Wikipedia

A Few Tidbits
  • They formed in 1926 in Chicago.
  • It was a team of black American players.
  • Harlem Globetrotter Chuck Cooper was the first black player drafted by the NBA.
  • The team gradually began to put comedy into play through comic routines.
  • There is still a team playing today.

I was thinking of how to celebrate Harlem Globetrotter Day.  I thought it would be fun to go see them play.  They will be in my area in April, but the tickets are so high that it would be feasible for me.  Then I thought I would watch some videos like the one above.  They are so skilled it is amazing, and they are awfully fun to watch.

After watching several Globetrotter videos, I now feel I want to at least attempt to shoot some hoops.  I don't think I can do many tricks, but I could play a game of horse.

Happy Globetrotter Day!
