Finding Joy in Daily Holidays. Let's Celebrate National Argyle Day Celebrated Every January 8th!

Let's Celebrate!

National Argyle Day

Every January 8th

When I think of argyle, I think of socks.  Did you know you can get argyle hats, sweaters, dresses, and even pants?  Who would have known?

Argyle is a diamond-shaped pattern that overlaps with diagonal lines. This holiday was developed to help people brighten up the winter by wearing bright, fun colors.

A Few Argyle Facts...

  • The design was developed in a country in western Scotland.
  • The person who created it was from the tartan of Clan Campbell.
  • Argyle was used in kilts and plaids and later in tartan hose.
  • Prince Edward wore argyle socks to play golf.
  • In the 1980s, argyle became a preppy fashion statement.
Ways to Celebrate Argyle Day
  1. Wear something with an argyle design
  2. Read about the history of Argyle
  3. Watch the movie Argyle.
  4. Go golfing and wear Argyle socks

How I will Celebrate Argyle Day
Here is what I will be doing to celebrate National Argyle Day.  I will buy something with the argyle design and wear it out and about on January 8th.

Happy Argyle Day Everyone!
