Let's Celebrate USMC Day!
Celebrated Every November 10th.
November 10th marks USMC Day, also known as the Marine Corps Birthday, commemorating the founding of the United States Marine Corps in 1775. It’s a day dedicated not only to celebrating the proud history and traditions of Marines and veterans but also for all of us to pause and be thankful for their dedication, bravery, and service to our country.
A Few Marine Corp Facts...
- The Marine Corps traces its roots back to Tun Tavern in Philadelphia, where the Continental Congress first recruited men to fight on land and sea, making it the symbolic birthplace of the Corps.
- Established in 1798, the United States Marine Band, known as “The President’s Own,” is the oldest professional musical organization in the U.S. and has performed at every presidential inauguration since 1801.
- “Semper Fidelis” (Always Faithful) has been the official Marine Corps motto since 1883, symbolizing the unwavering commitment Marines have to each other and their mission, though earlier mottos like “To the Shores of Tripoli” and “Fortitudine” preceded it.
