Let's Celebrate National Family PJ Day!

Celebrated Every November 14th.

November 14th is National Family PJ Day, a cozy daily holiday inviting families to come together in their pajamas for a day of comfort, fun, and bonding. Whether you lounge around, play games, enjoy a movie night, or put on a playful pajama fashion show, this day is all about creating joyful memories in the coziest way possible. Some families even take this chance to snap festive holiday photos in matching PJs, making it a tradition full of warmth and togetherness.

A Few PJ Facts...
  • Pajamas started out as loose, comfy pants worn in India and became a fancy sleepwear choice for the wealthy in medieval Europe, while folks with less money just wore simple smocks to bed.
  • The word “pajamas” that we use in America comes from the Hindi term “pae-jama,” meaning leg clothing, which dates back to the 13th century during the Ottoman Empire.
  • Since the early 1900s, wearing sleep clothes from day to night has been a fashion trend, popularized by designer Paul Poiret, who introduced silk pajamas designed to be worn both as loungewear and for sleeping.
  • Nightcaps, worn to keep the head warm during winter sleep, some featured a pointed end long enough to wrap around the neck like a scarf but short enough to avoid choking hazards.

A Few Ways to Celebrate National Family PJ Day...
  1. Buy new PJs for the entire family.
  2. Spend the day in your PJs, enjoying quality time with your family watching movies, baking, and playing games.
  3. Give the cozy gift of pajamas and share comfort and joy with someone special.
  4. Give the gift of pajamas by donating to charitable organizations, clothing drives, or homeless shelters
How will I  Celebrate National Family PJ Day? We exchange PJs every Christmas so we will continue that tradition.

Happy National Family PJ Day!
