 Let's Celebrate National Skyscraper Day!

Celebrated Every September 3rd.

September 3rd is National Skyscraper Day, a perfect occasion to marvel at the incredible architectural and engineering feats behind these towering structures. Skyscrapers arose out of necessity—answering the call of growing urban populations and bustling commercial activity by building upwards instead of outwards. What started predominantly as commercial buildings have now evolved into stunning residential spaces that reshape city skylines. Today, we celebrate the vision and daring of the architects who dared to reach for the sky and changed the way we live and work.

A Few Skyscraper Facts...

  • In the 1800s a building had to be over 10 stories tall to be called a skyscraper.
  • One of the tallest skyscrapers is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.  It is 163 stories and the highest outdoor observation area.
  • The first skyscraper was the Home Insurance Building in Chicago Illinois.  It was ten stories high  and build between 1884 and 1885.
