September 1st is National Hotel Employee Day, a heartfelt daily holiday dedicated to honoring the millions of hardworking hotel staff across the United States. Established in 2022, this day recognizes the essential role these employees play in making travel and tourism memorable, safe, and enjoyable. From coordinating family reunions and weddings to ensuring guests have a smooth and comfortable stay, hotel employees are truly the backbone of the industry—and vital to the success of our nation’s nearly $2 trillion travel economy.

A Few Hotel Facts...

• The worlds oldest hotel was founded in 705 AD and is still in operation in Japan, The Nishiyama Onesen Keiunkan.
• The world tallest hotel, as of September 2025, is in Dubai, the Gevora Hotel.  It stands at over 1100 feet tall.
• The hotel with the most rooms it found in Malaysia called The World Hotel it has 7,351 operating rooms.
• The first hotel with electricity was the Tredmont House in Boston and the electricity was installed by Thomas Edison in 1889.
