June 17th is World Croc Day, a special daily holiday celebrating the fascinating world of crocodiles. It’s a time to learn about these ancient reptiles, understand the challenges they face, and support conservation efforts to protect their populations. World Croc Day invites us to appreciate the vital role crocodiles play in our ecosystems and raises awareness about their endangered status.

A Few Crocodile Facts...

• Crocodiles can grow over 4,000 teeth in a life time.  That is because if they lose a tooth it is replaced.
• The largest captured crocodile was 20.2 feet long and weighed 2,370 lbs.  It was caught in the Philippines. 
• Crocodiles can swim up to 22 mph. 
• Crocodiles can hold their breath for up to an hour.
• Crocodiles are found in tropical areas like Africa, Asia, The Americas, and Australia.

A Few Ways to Celebrate World Croc  Day...

1. Read about or watch a documentary on crocodiles.
2. Visit a zoo with a crocodile exhibit.
3. Learn about the threats to crocodiles.
4. Watch a movie or read a book that have a crocodile theme.
