- Waitstaff handle many things in the restaurant including presenting menus, taking orders, clearing tables, and processing payments.
- In this business waitstaff have a physiclally demanding job. It is fast paced and they are on their feet for long hours.
- Many times waitstaff rely on tips for the bulk of their income.
- The median annual base salary for waitstaff in 2020 was $23,740.
- In 2025 a tip of between 15-20% or higher is the proper amount.
A Few Ways to Celebrate National Waitstaff Day...
- Read about the history of waiters and waitresses.
- Go out to eat and give a generous tip when you leave.
- Be kind to waitstaff and thank them for their hard work.
- Watch a movie or a TV show about a restaurant.
How will I celebrate National Waitstaff Day? I will go out to eat and be very nice to my server and give them a good tip. I always do that anyway:-)
