Zoo Lovers Day is a day set aside to encourage people to explore and support their local zoos.

A Few Zoo Facts...

• Zoos are also used to breed endangered animals; their success rate is up to 80%.
• The word zoo is short for "zoological park."
• The San Diego Zoo is the largest in the US, with over 4,000 animals on over 100 acres. 
• The oldest running zoo is the Vienna Zoo in Schonbrunn, which dates back to 1752.
• The oldest zoo in America is the Philadelphia Zoo, which was chartered in 1859 and opened to the public on July 1, 1874.

A Few Ways to Celebrate Zoo Lovers Day...
