Let's Celebrate International Beaver Day!
Celebrated Every April 7th.
International Beaver Day is a day to realize the importance of beavers and
their role in a healthy environment.
A Few Beaver Facts...
- International Beaver Day is on April 7th in honor of Dorothy Richards, who studied beavers for nearly 50 years.
- Beavers can weigh up to 40 pounds.
- Beavers mate for life.
- Beaver babies are called kits and stay with their parents for about two years.
- Beavers' teeth never stop growing. This is why they must gnaw on wood to prevent their teeth from getting too long.
A Few Ways to Celebrate International Beaver Day...
1-Visit a beaver pond or stream and observe them in action. Don't bother them; just watch from afar.
2-Research beavers and learn all about them.
3-Read "Beaversprite: My Years Building An Animal Sanctuary" by Dorothy Richards.
4-Look for and attend any Beaver Day Celebrations in your area.
