- The game was initially called Lexiko, then renamed Criss-Cross, and eventually, Scrabble.
- The inventor of Scrabble, Alfred Mosher Butts, was an architect.
- The game was invented in 1938.
- The rule book for Scrabble is 50 pages long.
- There are over 4,000 Scrabble Clubs around the world that meet to compete.
- The longest Scrabble game recorded was in 1984, which lasted 153 hours.
A Few Ways to Celebrate National Scrabble Day...
1-Gather family and friends and play a game of Scrabble.
2-If you don't have a Scrabble game, go out and buy one or look online for one.
3-Find an online Scrabble game that you can play.
4-Read about the history of Scrabble.
5-Try a different version of Scrabble, a card game called Scrabble Slam, which is a bit more kid-friendly and very fast-paced.
How will I celebrate National Scrabble Day? I just ordered the game Scrabble Slam and will play it with my oldest grandkids.
