National Chopstick Day is celebrated every February 6th. This is a day to celebrate the chopstick, which was been around for over 4,000 years.
A Few Chopstick Facts...
- For some, the chopstick is a symbol of elegance and sophistication.
- Chopsticks originated in China.
- Chopsticks are the oldest eating utensils still in use today.
- In Japan, impaling your food with a chopstick is rude.
- Chopsticks can be made of plastic, metal, bone, and ivory.
- Approximately 80 billion disposable chopsticks are produced each year. They are primarily produced in China.
A Few Ways to Celebrate National Chopstick Day...
1-Have a dinner featuring Asian foods and use only chopsticks to eat the meal.
2-Visit a Japanese Restaurant.
3-Have a Chopstick Challenge, in which you compete with others to pick up items. The first to finish wins. Give away a nice pair of chopsticks to the winner.
4-Shop for unique chopsticks.
