Hug Day is a day to show your love and friendship through giving hugs. I do love a good hug:-)
A Few Hug Facts...
- The word "hug" comes from the Old Norse word " hugger," which means "to comfort."
- The word hug was first used in 1610 to describe a wrestling hold.
- In the 1650s, the word "hug" began to refer to what we know today as a sign of affection.
- A hug from someone you trust releases oxytocin, a hormone that lowers blood pressure, heart rate, and cortisol and can reduce stress.
- Sharing hugs with those you care about can also strengthen your immune system.
- Humans have been hugging for thousands of years. In 2007, archeologists found two skeletons in a tight hug that dated back to 6,000 years.
A Few Ways to Celebrate Hug Day...
1-Hug the people you love.
2-Hug your friends.
3-Send a virtual hug to someone through messages or social media.
4-Send a card to someone you care about and sign it with "hugs."
5-Hug your pets.
6-Share a hug by doing an act of kindness for someone.
7-Give yourself a hug.
How will I celebrate Hug Day? I am going to hug my kids and grandkids:-)
