Valentine's Day originated as a Christian Day to honor Saint Valentine.

A Few Valentine's Day Facts...

Symbols of Valentine's Day include hearts, doves, and Cupid.
There were three Saint Valentines.
Most notable was Valentine, a priest in Rome and Martyred in 269 CE. He would cut out hearts from parchment paper and give them to persecuted Christians and Soldiers to remind them of God's love.
This day became associated with romantic love in 1382 to commemorate the anniversary of the engagement of King Richard the Second and Anne of Bohemia.
The giving of Valentines was thought to have begun in 1477.
The first mass production of valentines began in the 1840s.
250 million roses are produced in preparation for Valentine's Day.
