National Gourmet Coffee Day is Celebrated Every January 18th. This day was created to show appreciation for the history of coffee and to celebrate our enjoyment of coffee.
A Few Coffee Facts...
- Legend says that coffee was discovered by a goat herder in Ethiopia around 800 AD
- Instant coffee first made an appearance in 1771 in England
- The average American spends about $2000 on coffee each year
- More coffee is consumed each day in Finland than anywhere else in the world.
- The most expensive coffee comes from Animal Poop it is called Luwak Coffee. The cost is up to $600/pound
- Brazil grows the most coffee in the world. In second place is Vietnam
- One cup of black coffee is about 1 calorie. It is a shame I add cream and sugar:-)

How will I celebrate National Gourmet Coffee Day? I will try a gourmet coffee shop in my area. I am going to go through my coffee mugs and keep only the ones I love. I may take a friend out for a cup of coffee.
